Laundromats are great for various reasons. For starters, those that live in apartments or homes that don’t have washer and dryer facilities must use a Raleigh laundromat to do their laundry, at least once a week. In addition, laundromats are great for extra laundry loads or items that are too big to fit in our washers at home. Comforters, pet beds, and more often take up too much room and aren’t able to get perfectly clean in our washers.

Sort Laundry at Home. The best way to save time while you’re at the laundromat is to sort all clothing at home. Put each pile in a different bag or pillowcase of a different color. Sort whites and darks, pants and shirts, or however you choose to sort your laundry!
Use your Own Detergent. Taking your personal detergent from home will save you money. The single-use packs offered for purchase at the Raleigh laundromat are expensive and are often too small for your load.
Check. Before throwing your laundry into a washer or dryer, make sure the appliances are clean. Sometimes, the insides of washers can get sticky with detergent residue, or worse, bleach. In addition, dryers can have dryer sheets left in them from previous users.
Check occupancy. If you’re not diligent enough to check for detergent residue, at least make it a point to check inside washers and dryers for someone else’s clothing or other laundered items. Even more, check for pens, chapsticks, and other items that could harm your clothing while they’re being washed or dried. You never know what can be left in pockets before they’re washed! Checking before using is key!
