The Laundry That Never Gets Folded…Continued.

Wash Dry Fold Raleigh NC: Tips that help you deal with a growing pile of clean laundry!

Welcome back! In last post, our wash dry fold in Raleigh NC talked about the ever growing pile of dirty laundry that might get clean, but never folded or hung, after they leave the dryer. Our experts have a few tips that will help you deal this problem!

According to laundrytips.com, “If your load consists of jeans, take one pair out at the time.  Hold it by the waistband and give it a good, hard flap.  Then lay it out flat on your folding surface.  You can lay several pairs on top of one another without causing them to become wrinkly.  Follow the same method for most any pair of long pants or shorts.”

For sheets and towels, laundrytips.com states, “Pull them out quickly and just lay them flat.” Otherwise, the sheets will be so wrinkled that you’ll have to rewash them in order to get them out.

Now that you’ve learned the trick of keeping your unfolded clothes as wrinkle free as possible, what’s next? Laying them out flat does buy you time, but it also takes up a great deal of space! They still need to be folded, hung, and put away.

Wash Dry Fold Raleigh NC | How Often Should You Use This Method?

Sparingly

It’s important to use this method only once a week or when laundry is really out of hand. Getting in the habit of never immediately folding clothes is never good.

Also, when you use this method, be sure to put all the clothing on your bed. That way, you have to move them when it’s time to go to bed. Hopefully, you will then fold and put them away, instead of just moving them to another resting place.

Weekly

Maybe you are a wash-once-a-week type of laundress.  If that’s the case, you may choose to save all of the folding until all of the loads are completed.  Turn on your favorite show from the DVR and fold away.

Hopefully these tips will help you learn to adapt a laundry routine, whether you do a load a day or use the method we talked about today, and in our last post. Having a laundry routine really helps keep things in order.

The Laundry That Never Gets Folded…

Coin Laundry Raleigh NC: Tips To Help With a Mountain of Laundry!

When 5+ loads of laundry need to be washed and you have only one free day to get caught up, it might seem overwhelming and stressful. Washing and drying the mountain of laundry might be the easy part, but  then comes the folding, hanging and putting away all the clothes.

Each time a load of clothes finishes drying,  many people throw them on the bed or in a clothes basket so they can dry the clothes in the washer and start a new load.

Though you might not have time to wash and dry the clothes, let alone fold them and put them away, there are a few tips that can help you get your laundry in order.  Before you throw the next load on the bed or in the laundry basket, read on so that when you want to wear those items again they aren’t a wrinkled mess!

Coin Laundry Raleigh NC | Organizing Unfolded Clean Clothing!

  • Instead of throwing the clothes from the dryer in a wad on the bed or in the laundry basket, lay them all out flat, so they won’t wrinkle.
  • Put all the socks and underwear in a separate pile that can be folded later.
  • Hold t-shirts by the shoulder seams and give it a good flap to get out the initial wrinkles.  Then lay it flat on the bed.  Repeat this same process with every t-shirt in the basket.  Though they’ll be slightly wrinkled, it’ll be nothing like it would be if you left them in a wad!
  • Shirts that need hanging should also be laid flat in a single layer.

There are many laundry tips and tricks that can help working people or busy parents get laundry done without all the stresses of actually setting aside precious time to do so. For more tips on how to deal with laundry that you don’t have time to fold or hang right away, be sure to visit back with us soon.

Spring Clean Your Laundry Routine!

Wash Dry Fold Raleigh NC: Spruce Up Your Laundry Routine for Spring!

For our last laundry spring cleaning tip, we are going to help you spring clean your laundry routine! Your laundry routine is probably the last thing you’ve ever thought about spring cleaning! Thankfully, with a little planning and organizing, your laundry chores will be cut in half and your family members will be helping out!

Wash Dry Fold Raleigh NC | Set a Routine

Setting a laundry routine that works well for everyone might be a bit difficult in the beginning but it will be worth it in the end. Take time to review the current laundry routine. How can it become more efficient? What can the rest of the family do to help out?

Each family member should have a role in the laundry room. Even children as young as three are able to help out with sorting clean laundry and folding and putting away towels.

Begin by restructuring dirty laundry storage. Each bedroom and bathroom should have two hampers in it. One for light clothing and towels and one for dark ones. Each family member should be in charge of sorting their own laundry.

Set a linen cleaning schedule so that bed sheets and comforters aren’t all being washed at the same time. Make sure there is an extra set of sheets that can go on the bed as soon as the soiled ones are taken off.

To discuss changes, order dinner in one night, sit down and work out all the kinks of the new routine. Protests will be made, but laundry is a part of life. It’s nice for children to learn how to wash and dry clothing at a young age. After all, they’ll be doing it for quite a while!

Spring cleaning happens each year around this same time. Just because your laundry room is a place you don’t love to hang out in doesn’t mean that you have to wait an entire year to clean it up again. Keep this laundry routine going, follow the other tips we’ve offered in previous posts and keep your laundry room clean and clear, year round!

Spring Cleaning: Laundry Style!

Welcome back! Our Raleigh Laundromat has a couple more tips to help you spring clean your laundry room, as well as help eliminate excess laundry chores! Below, you’ll find a few tips that will help spruce up your drab laundry room and help to eliminate unnecessary laundry loads!

Raleigh Laundromat: Enhance the Appearance of Your Laundry Room

No one likes walking into a drab room with nothing pretty or positive to look at. It’s also especially hard to walk into a drab laundry room and make yourself do work in there.

A fresh coat of light colored paint can really help liven the room up. Choose a nice light blue, gray, or off-white. A color that will help reflect light can even brighten up a laundry area stuck in a dark corner of the basement! Adding a mirror or other art to the wall helps as well!

No one ever said the laundry room couldn’t have style and décor! Make the room something you love; somewhere you don’t mind spending time in!

Clean out the Closets

One of the #1 spring cleaning to-dos on most every homeowners list, cleaning out the clothes and linen closets might seem less like laundry room spring cleaning and more like typical household chores. What you don’t realize is that by getting rid of clothing that no longer fits, never looked right, or just isn’t your style, you are doing a couple of things that help lighten your laundry load and routine:

  • Help clothes last longer. They’ll need less attention if they’re stored in a space that’s uncrowded and that allows air to circulate better.  Air should be able to circulate around each piece. You’ll also prevent wear by excessive rubbing and the iron will be needed less often.
  • Eliminate clothing that is never worn. There will be less laundry to clean, less clothing to pick up off the floor (after they’ve been tried on and discarded.)

Laundry chores don’t have to be the worst thing in your life! Of course, it’ll never be the highlight of your day, but there are ways to make it a bit better than it is now! To find out how to spring clean your laundry routine, visit back with us soon!

Spring Clean Your Washing Machine, Continued!

Wash Dry Fold Raleigh NC: Spring Clean Your Front Loading Washing Machine!

Spring cleaning is a job that most homeowners actually enjoy doing! It’s a time of rejuvenation and organization. It’s the first step to fully enjoying the summer months ahead! It’s important to remember your laundry room during your spring cleaning session. In our last post, we went over how to clean your top loading washing machine. Today, our wash dry fold in Raleigh NC will share tips on how to clean your front loading washing machine from the inside out!

Wash Dry Fold Raleigh NC | Front Loaders

  1. Select the hot water setting. Don’t have one? Just select a white or a stain cycle setting.
  2. Select the extra rinse option if your washer has that option.
  3. Add ¾ cup of white vinegar to the bleach dispenser or fill to its max level.
  4. Allow the cycle to run until it has completed.
  5. To ensure that no vinegar remains in your washer, manually select an additional rinse cycle if your washer does not have a 2nd rinse cycle selection.
  6. Also be sure to clean the bleach and fabric softener dispensers. Simply clean them by removing and washing in warm, soapy water. Dry thoroughly before reinserting them.
  7. Next, clean the rubber seal around the inside of your front loading door. This seal is a perfect hiding place for mold and mildew. Carefully pull back the gasket and wipe down the area with white vinegar and a soft, white cleaning cloth. Dry thoroughly with a clean cloth to prevent any moisture build-up, before placing the gasket back in place.
  8. After cleaning all interior parts of your top loader washing machine, wipe down the exterior and control panel with a gentle all-purpose cleaning spray to remove any dust and dirt buildup.

Quick tip: Be sure to leave the door open to prevent moisture build-up in between loads and clean it inside and out every month.
