Summer Laundry Tips!

Fluff and Fold Raleigh NC: Laundry Tips!

Our fluff and fold in Raleigh, NC is back with more tips that will help lessen your load this summer! Laundry is never fun, but it seems like summer makes it even worse! No one wants to be stuck indoors doing laundry all day. Below, you’ll find some great tips that will hopefully help you reduce the need to do mountains of laundry all summer long! Be sure to visit back with our previous posts for more tips, if you happened to miss them!

Dodge summer ironing. Pull shirts and other items you usually need to iron out of the dryer as soon as it’s finished, and hang them up on hangers. Place a garment rack or extra closet rod in your laundry room to keep it easy and simple. Just smooth your dressy clothes out, hang them while they’re still warm and watch how it will reduce (and possibly eliminate) the need to iron.

Designate specific wash days.  Although the size of your family may require every day to be a wash day, try to minimize your time doing laundry by delegating certain days of the week as wash days.

Fluff and Fold Raleigh NC | For those that have swimming pools at home:

Make hand washing easy. Our bathing suits need to be hand washed to ensure they keep their shape.  Keep a washtub at the ready in the bathroom or outside on your back deck. Toss in bathing suits and other delicate items as needed.

Add a space-saving drying resolution. Instead of throwing swimsuits across the shower rod or dealing with a bulky drying rack outside on your deck, try using a magazine rack or a vintage ladder, leaned against the wall. Either one will be functional and stylish!

Our Raleigh Laundromat loves offering tips for you to be as efficient as possible while doing your laundry at home.  Even still, we know how hard it is to keep on top of laundry chores. More Ways to Lighten Your Load This Summer!

Wash Dry Fold Raleigh NC: Lighten Your Laundry Load!

Welcome back! Our wash dry fold in Raleigh is here to continue offering tips that will hopefully help you lighten your summer laundry chores! We all prefer to spend time outdoors when the weather is nice. The last thing we want to do is laundry! Sadly, the bulk of our clothes washing for the year happens during the summer. Extra towels, clothes, and more end up adding to our already large laundry list.

Thankfully, as we mentioned last post, there are a few ways to lighten the load and spend more time with your friends and family doing fun summer activities! According to houzz.com:

Keep towels off the floor. Provide wall hooks for each member of the household, plus a bench or shelf to stow extras and a small hamper for dirties. For larger households, labeling each hook with a number or letter is an easy way to keep track of whose towel is whose.

Put a laundry basket in every room. Kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms each need their own laundry basket. (Remember, keep those baskets small so you’ll be more likely to do smaller loads more frequently!)

Make your laundry room a place that brightens your whites and your mood. Keeping things fresh and light in the laundry area can help make this chore feel a little more fun. Clean white or bright, sunny hues are a great choice. If you like to buy giant containers of detergent, decanting them into glass jars will make them more attractive and more convenient to use.

Add a multipurpose pinboard. Place a nice, big covered bulletin board in your laundry room and see how many ways you end up using it. You can hang family photos and inspiration of course, but also try pinning up stray socks, found items and a fabric care chart for easy reference.

Designate a spot for pocket contents. A bowl or basket placed on top of the washer serves as a visual reminder to check those pockets before washing that lip balm or money. For extra organizing credit, give each person their own little basket for small items that would otherwise be easily lost.

Lighten Your Load This Summer!

Fluff and Fold Raleigh NC: Summer Laundry Tips!

With summer just around the corner, our fluff and fold in Raleigh NC knows, the last thing we all want to think about is time spent cleaning. We’d much rather be outdoors swimming, hiking, soaking up the sun. Chances are though, if you’re spending a great deal of time outdoors, especially swimming, your home can be overrun with extra laundry in no time at all. Keeping the extra towels, changes of clothes, and more clean can become a full time job.

Thankfully there are ways to set up a functional laundry system that will help you through all the extra laundry that summer brings!

According to houzz.com, you should “First, get ready for summer with a seasonal swap. Take a day to go through every drawer, closet and cupboard, pulling out things that are no longer seasonally appropriate. Stow off-season clothes and gear in an out-of-the-way spot and dig out the beach towels, swimsuits and sarongs. Often after a season in storage, towels and other items end up a little musty; if so, throw everything in the wash before using. If you come across any items with tears or stains, now is the time to toss them out.”

In addition, there are several other ways to keep from laundering your life away this summer! Below, you’ll find out how!

Minimize laundry loads. Don’t let that laundry pile up into a mountain of overwhelming heights. Do a little here and there, while you’re letting the kids rest during the day or at night after you’ve put them to bed. Letting laundry build up can discourage your from doing it altogether. Using smaller baskets to store dirty laundry can help keep the mountain at bay.  They fill quicker, prompting you to do laundry more frequently.

Stop wet or dirty clothing before they enter the house. A peg rail or several sturdy hooks nailed to the exterior of your home’s back door will make it easy for the kids to hang up their wet towels or dirty play clothes, before coming into the house!

Keep fresh towels and suits in a designated spot. If you have a pool at your house, or even a neighborhood pool that you and your kids frequent during summer, be sure to add a second set of hooks inside. Hang fresh, clean towels on them so the kids know which towels are ready to use!

5 Minute Tricks to Fix Laundry Mishaps!

Wash Dry Fold Raleigh NC: 5-Minute Fix Laundry Fix!

Have you ever put in a load of towels to wash one busy morning and then completely forgotten about them? Chances are they were left not one day, but two! It’s also likely that the towels smell so badly of mildew that you worry they’ll never be usable again!

Wash Dry Fold Raleigh NC | Quick Trick!

Thankfully there’s a trick that will quickly fix this laundry mishap! In fact, the fix is as quick as 5 minutes!

According to redbook.com, “First, rewash the towels on the longest setting and at the hottest possible temperature using your regular detergent plus a detergent booster.  At the rinse cycle, you can add one ounce of white distilled vinegar to attack the mold and mildew (without harming the fabric). Then throw the towels into the dryer with a fabric-softener sheet and dry them completely — or the smell will come back the next time they get a little damp. If your washing machine still has a funky smell, run an empty cycle on the hot-water setting and add three-quarters of a cup of chlorine bleach to disinfect the washer and kill any leftover bacteria that’s hanging around.”

Quick enough fix, right?! An all-natural cleaning agent that made an appearance in our last post, vinegar, helps save the day again!

Another fantastic trick that fixes laundry mishaps deals with those unwanted wrinkles in our clothing!  Have you ever been in a rush to go somewhere and realized that the favorite pants or shirt you want to wear is wrinkled?

The quick solution is simple. According to keenonhealth.com, “Buy a small empty spray bottle at your local discount store. Fill the bottle with tap water and add a couple of drops of fabric softener to the spray bottle. Don’t go overboard, just a couple of drops. Always shake the bottle before spraying. Lightly mist the wrinkled clothing from top to bottom. Do not soak it, just spray lightly.”

Once the clothing has been lightly sprayed shake it out with a bit of force to help the wrinkles relax. Are your clothes still wrinkled? For a second 5 minute fix, take the clothing that’s been sprayed with the homemade wrinkle release and stick in the dryer for 5 minutes.

Quick laundry fixes are great for those always on the go! For more tips from our wash dry fold in Raleigh NC, be sure to visit back with us on our next post! We will have a few more 5 minute laundry fixes for you to try during your next laundry crisis!

Vinegar Trick That Will Lighten Your Load!

Fluff and Fold Raleigh NC: Laundry Tricks!

Are you in a laundry funk this spring? Are you continually looking for laundry tips and short cuts to help lighten your load? If so, look no further! Laundry Express, fluff and fold in Raleigh NC has an exciting laundry tip that’s sure to help you eliminate multiple loads of laundry each day or week! Don’t be surprised when we share this tip; it’s something most people never even think about!

For most (well, probably everyone!) the worst part of laundry chores is the actual beginning stage. The ever-annoying gathering and sorting part of laundry. Sorting alone can take up tons of time and space. Thankfully, there’s an all-natural solution to this dreaded part of doing laundry!

Using distilled white vinegar in your wash can actually keep your colors from bleeding onto your whites! We do recommend that you still wash red items and new denim separate; at least for the first wash. Other than that, adding a half of a cup to a whole cup, depending on the size of your load, to your regular laundry detergent, will efficiently wash your clothing without having to sort them for better cleaning!!!

According to Redbook.com, “Acid in distilled white vinegar is strong enough to break down detergent’s alkalies, making it more effective in cleaning your clothes—yet still mild enough to preserve and soften fabrics. The acid also makes your clothes smell fresher because it cuts through perspiration and residual deodorant. Don’t worry about the vinegar’s odor—it goes away as the clothes dry.”
