One of our best tips is to take the time to properly get your clothes ready for putting in the washer. This means emptying out all of the pockets checking for paper, loose change, or any items that might be hiding there. You will also need to zip all the zippers, remove any jewelry or pins if there is any velcro you will want to secure this. One thing you will not want to do is to button your buttons. This is because the wash cycle can stress the buttons and cause the button holes to become larger than you need. Take the time to roll socks, tie any strings or ribbons that might become tangled in the wash. Your delicate items will need to be placed into a mesh zippered bag. Sweaters and your cotton T-shirts can be turned inside out. This can help to keep pilling from happening to your more delicate items.
In generations past, a product called bluing was used in the wash to provide a subtle blue tint to whites. This blue white tint can make white clothing appear whiter, brighter, and cleaner. If you find that chlorine bleach is destroying your fabrics you may certainly give bluing a try.
