Today, we are going to offer a few tips on washing temperatures and detergent!
Washing Temperatures | Fluff and Fold Raleigh NC
Cold water eliminates shrinkage and color bleeding on new items with bright or dark coloring. It’s important to wash the following in cold water only!
- Fine fabrics
- Delicates
- Sweaters
- Denim
- T-shirts
- Cotton items
Warm water should be used when laundering whites and lights. Warm water and detergent helps lift dirt or stains away, as well as removing bacteria.
Hot water works great to remove serious stains. It’s also a great disinfectant for dish and bath towels or washcloths. In addition, hot water is a must for sheet sets and blankets!
Remember to Do a Last-Minute Check. Before you wash your load of laundry:
- Close zippers
- Pretreat stains
- Place delicates in a mesh bag for washing
Washing Detergents
- Color-safe bleach works on all colors and helps removes stains.
- Chlorine bleach helps brighten whites. Don’t make the mistake of using chlorine bleach on color fabrics, though!
- Fabric softener is great for conditioning towels and clothing. It also helps to prevent static cling.
Tip: Does your machine have a bleach dispenser? If not, be sure to dilute the bleach with water before putting it in with your clothing! The same goes for fabric softener; if you don’t have a softener dispenser, use a fabric softener ball or dilute it with water first!
