- Perchloroethylene, the chemical used to dry clean, can remove dirt, grease and other stains from clothing. Soapy detergent and softeners are used to clean the traditional way. These detergents work with water to remove stains and soiled areas of clothing.
- The dry cleaning process does involve a machine that tumbles the clothing until they’re clean. The solvent is then often reused for other clothing. Traditional laundry involves a washing machine that goes through an agitation cycle and rinse to get clothing clean.
- Dry cleaning uses a special machine to clean and dry, where traditional laundry cleaning uses a regular washing machine to clean clothes, and then a dryer to dry them.
- Both dry cleaned clothing and traditional laundry cleaned clothing are steamed or ironed to get out all the wrinkles.
