Go ahead and take a look at your child’s School Website. Most of them will already have loads of information for you about back to school. You can find things like:
- What are the hours of school to be for the upcoming year.
- Whose class will your child be in and the teachers name.
- If your school requires uniforms, are there any changes?
- A upcoming years school calendar with start dates and holidays marked.
- Lunchroom information and pricing.
- School Supplies lists by grade and teacher.
- Bus information
- After School Care Information
We also know that once you have bought your kids school supplies you want them to be able to keep up with them. As you and your children shop for their school supplies talk to them about the high cost of the items and the cost to replace them if they are lost. This is a good time to begin to look for a labeling system to mark your kids items. You have a better chance of recovering misplaced jackets, notebooks, etc. if they are labeled with your child’s information.
Look for a really good calendar that you will put to use. A dry erase one works really well for having a clean slate every month. Once you have it use a different color for each child. Then at a glance you will know what is on board each day for each family member. Have a place for everyone to write down any changes that need to be made and a shopping list can also be included for writing down things the family runs out of. This can be tweaked to suit your families needs as you go. Now two families are alike!
