Adding the laundry detergent you have measured out or putting the dryer sheet in the dryer are both ways to begin teaching them the mechanics of washing clothes. Kids also can match socks and help fold linens such as towels, washcloths, and dish towels at a very early age. Older children can help fold bulky items such as bedding, sheets, and blankets.
Laundry is a fact of life for all of us so it is a very good idea to get children involved at a very early age. As stated earlier yes they will make mistakes but the life skills you teach them will stay with them and make them responsible adults later on. Establishing and maintaining a laundry routine will have a tremendous effect on the smooth running of your home with less stress and more fun for all.
