As our coin-op laundry in Raleigh NC knows, stains are a major pain in our side. Laundry chores are hard enough when they’re uncomplicated. Adding stained clothing into the mix just makes it that much more difficult! Thankfully, Tide.com has a few tips that will help us with those common stains, many households encounter on a regular basis!
Candy Stains | Washing Instructions
- Brush the excess stain off the surface of the fabric.
- Rinse in water to dilute the stain.
- Pretreat with liquid detergent. Pour the detergent on to cover stain and let set for 20 minutes.
- Wash in warm water with regular laundry detergent.
- If stain remains, repeat steps before drying.
Chocolate Stains | Washing Instructions
- Try a stain releaser of your choice. Just add it to your wash along with your regular detergent.

- Rinse in cold water to dilute the stain.
- Pretreat with liquid detergent. Pour the detergent on to cover stain and let set for 20 minutes.
- Wash in warm water with 1 use of Tide.
- If stain remains, repeat steps before drying.
Coffee Stains | On-the-Go Tips
- Wet a cloth with warm water and blot. Repeat with club soda if necessary

- Try an instant stain remover.
- Remove excess residue from stain.
- Press the tip onto the stain several times to release some stain remover solution.
- Rub tip gently across stain to remove it. When necessary, add more liquid and continue to rub gently.
- Important: If treated area will be exposed to direct sunlight, wipe with damp cloth or napkin to remove excess solution.

- Rinse in cold water to dilute the stain.
- Using a PLASTIC bucket, create a soak solution by adding 1/2 cup of liquid detergent, per gallon of cold water.
- Allow the garment to soak for up to 30 minutes, weighting the item with a WHITE towel to keep it totally submerged.
- Pretreat using a liquid detergent. Pour the detergent on to cover stain and let set for 20 minutes.
- Wash in warm water.
- If stain remains, repeat steps before drying.
