Welcome back! Today we have more great tips to help you lessen your laundry load and ensure clothing gets clean and fresh, the first time around!
Coin-Op Laundry Raleigh NC: Correct Measuring
How many of you just quickly fill the measuring cup and throw detergent in the washer without really paying attention to the amount you’re putting in? Many of us do this. Believe it or not, most complementary measuring lids or cups that come with most detergents aren’t easy to read and can really cause you to over or under do it, even when you’re carefully measuring.
While under-cleaning your garments can lead to dirty clothes that need another washing, over-cleaning with detergent can cause clothing to look dingy and leave residues; even if you put the detergent in the washer first!
To ensure you use the right amount, follow the manufacturer’s recommendation on your washing machine and then mark your cup or lid to the exact fill line you need. That way, you’ll know exactly how much you’re using!
In addition, hard or soft water can affect the amount of detergent you need, as well. Hard water needs at least the full amount recommended. Soft water normally takes less detergent. Hard water could also use a water softener to help with washing. Baking soda can act as a water softener. Using equal parts detergent and baking soda is a nice starting place. You can adjust from there if you think it’s too much or too little.
Cold Water | Coin-Op Laundry Raleigh NC
According to the Department of Energy, 90 percent of the energy used for washing clothes in a conventional top loader is used to heat the water. Even more, warm water causes clothing colors to bleed onto each other. Cold water keeps that from happening.
