Taking the time to look at these things means you will save money and your favorite garments. The first is to check the label inside your garments. If the item has a dry clean only label you will want to take extreme care of the item. Some items may be able to be hand washed and then air dried. If you decide to try to wash these garments take a lot of care not to damage them.
Before washing your clothing make sure that you zip the zippers all the way up. Not zipping them can cause them to get caught on other clothing and this can result in snags, picks, and other damage to your clothing. Also, take the time to unbutton all of your shirts. Leaving shirts buttoned can damage the buttonholes and buttons.
One final tip we can offer concerns stains on your clothing. Make certain that you take note of any stains and treat them as soon as you possibly can. However, be careful when treating the stains to be gentle with them. Commonsense makes us think that we need to be tough with the stain, but if you rub the stain too hard you can damage the cloth and spread the stain. Always dab instead of rubbing a stain and you will keep the stain contained and not damage the material.
